Ephesians 2:10 NLT
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
We are his creation. His love note in the earth. Its like he has written us to be the “do you like me? YES? NO? MAYBE?” Note to the world. We are a poem, a painting, novel, whatever you want to call it but we have been created to be set on display for all to see.
We are told in:
2 Corinthians 3:2 NKJV
You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men;
AND
In Hebrews 12:2 that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He is writing our story, painting our life, giving rhythm to our hearts song.
With all this metaphorical language of us being this beautiful work of art we often feel like splattered mud on a wall or a cd with scratches and our hearts song is skipping.
Basically we feel like poop. We’re all sorts of tired, we’ve been beat up, or whatever.
So we don’t feel so amazing.
But God is in the business of making ugly beautiful.
God is so after us and wanting to draw so close then reignite the passion and zeal for life.
Every aspect of our lives is important to Him. Often we think because we got poop in our lives, broken or missing pieces, or we don’t feel so pretty that God wants nothing or little to do with us.
This is not true, not one bit. Its actually the exact opposite!
Check this out:
Psalm 34:17-18 MSG
17 Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you. 18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
Or this…
Psalm 51:17 MSG
I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.
I got more! Ok, this one is a lil long but it great example of how God watches our lives and pays attention to every detail.
Psalm 56:1-13 MSG
1 Take my side, God—I’m getting kicked around, stomped on every day. 2 Not a day goes by but somebody beats me up; They make it their duty to beat me up. 3 When I get really afraid I come to you in trust. 4 I’m proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do? 5 They don’t let up— they smear my reputation and huddle to plot my collapse. 6 They gang up, sneak together through the alleys To take me by surprise, wait their chance to get me. 7 Pay them back in evil! Get angry, God! Down with these people! 8 You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book. 9 If my enemies run away, turn tail when I yell at them, Then I’ll know that God is on my side. 10 I’m proud to praise God, proud to praise God. 11 Fearless now, I trust in God; what can mere mortals do to me? 12 God, you did everything you promised, and I’m thanking you with all my heart. 13 You pulled me from the brink of death, my feet from the cliff-edge of doom. Now I stroll at leisure with God in the sunlit fields of life.
In Ecclesiastes 3:11 we are told that God makes everything beautiful, He takes what looks like poop and grows a beautiful garden, takes that painting and makes a masterpiece!
We just have to say God, here I am, a mess but none the less I am here. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.
With the ministry of Holy Spirit, He heals our broken hearts, puts together our shattered lives, and mend our torn souls. He makes everything beautiful.
