Spiritual warfare seems to be an intense topic for many believers, and with a wide range of various beliefs on the subject. I have seen firsthand during my travels to some parts of the world where the practice of different types of warfare has created some form of lack of spiritual identity. For the most part, in conversations with other believers about warfare operations of witchcraft and the believer’s authority towards overcoming the demonic, there seems to be more fear-based and carnal methodology.
Sometimes, we just give way too much attention and focus to witchcraft and the demonic, and things of that nature more than is needed. We tend to place a lot of priority into what deserves less of our spiritual burdens. We do not need to give it much credit at all.
“Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world. ”
-John 4:4
I remember a story from Jesse Duplantis, where he spent all-night rebuking a demon in his room while he was staying at someone else’s house. He shared how he saw a shadow in the corner and started rebuking it through prayers of warfare, saying “I command you to go, I command you to leave.” And what happened as the morning came and light came into the room, he realizes that the whole time he was rebuking what he thought was a demon – and wasn’t fleeing, wasn’t listening to him, that he was lacking authority, and in that moment, he was actually rebuking a coat rack. He was rebuking a coat rack the entire night when he thought that he was rebuking a demon instead.
This goes to show you that sometimes, what we think is the demonic sometimes is nothing more then a coat rack. It’s just a coat rack trying to appear as a demon, trying to create fear inside of you, and how fear is one of the footholds that the enemy uses to get into people. It is through fear that the enemy creates anxiety and worry in the lives of people; thus, breaking their spiritual wall of defense.
The enemy will try to come and create fear inside of you, and if he can create fear inside of you, it’s like he has a major hold against your freedom. Understand this, if you have fear, it just means that love has not yet finished its work in you. However, He will finish it.
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
-1 John 4:18
Love is actually going to come and finish its work in you. God is going to finish the work that He started in you because God is the author and finisher of your faith, and when He begins something, He’s going to finish that same thing. And so, in that whole process that you are going through in that moment, He’s going to finish what He started inside of you; therefore, there’s really nothing for you to fear!!
God is for me, He loved me way before I was on His side, and He wants to reveal Himself to me!
